Team supporters,

Once again Team #122 did a wonderful job in North Carolina. We helped more than one team in distress. Team #3331 “Blindside”, a North Carolina team whose mentor we had met in Richmond (thanks to our Rick Mangum), was in dire straits because their team leaders husband was ill and then passed away the Friday before we arrived. We met them on the following Thursday. They did not have a finished robot and had never tested it. With the help of mentors and students we were able to not only get them inspected early Friday but moving as well. They were so happy! The students are coming back next year because of what the team did to help them this year. They gave us a thank you card and some gifts of NC candy and water!
We also helped rookie team #3185 from Tennessee. They had their robot in three pieces. Was never finished and not working. Again our mentors (Jim Young and Ben Poole) and students were happy to help.
We became three teams from Thursday through Saturday. They were wonderful and enthusiastic. We were so happy when they were finally inspected so they could be on the field. It is an unbelievable feeling for a team to see their robot, which they have worked so hard on for six weeks, turn on and then move! Our team was working on three robots all weekend!! Both of the rookie teams we were with stated that because of our students and mentors helping them, they are going to continue their work with Science, Math, and Technology, or to us veterans, FIRST Robotics! We are pleased that their experience turned into a good one instead of a bad one. It is what FIRST and Team #122 is all about.
We could not be more proud of our animation team! We knew that their animation was well done, even in spite of losing many days due to snow, by Jordan, Jonathan, Jay’Quane, and Nick. ( Nick eventually had to leave the animation team to help Mary Peak with their after school FLL club-Go Nick!!) Their efforts were finally noticed by Autodesk! They worked diligently and won an award the team has never won before. We were so thrilled!!
Congratulations to all of our hard working students, mentors, teachers, and parents!
